Intermediates
Our Intermediate teachers bring a wide range of specialist skills and experiences to the Maungakiekie team and students have opportunities to work
with all of us over the course of the year. Students are organised in
different groupings for Technology, Sport, Options and Maths so that they
have many opportunities to mix with the widest range of students possible
over their two years as an Intermediate.
On Fridays, we run an Options programme with specialist classes of Spanish,
Art and a range of ICT and Technology activities using the Poutama Centre.
We run a house sports programme involving a range of conventional and
unconventional activities to cater for all abilities and to foster
team-spirit, sportsmanship and leadership skills.
This year we plan for all students to learn to play the ukulele or guitar
with our Music and Spanish specialist teacher, Mrs Lee, working with one
class each term.
There are many opportunities for Intermediates to to be involved in a range
of sports at representative level - and cultural activities such as choir,
dance and our school radio station.
We continue to offer new activities and experiences as circumstances allow
and aim for our Intermediate students to have the best possible opportunity
to develop academically, socially and culturally over their two years with
us.
