The Night the Lightning Hit the Lavatory.

It had been a pretty tough week actually! On Monday we were broken into at 6 o’clock in the morning and a laptop computer taken, although it would appear the ‘perp’ was after the data projector. He (or she) dropped their pliers and bolted once the alarms activated. Perhaps that is the new meaning of early morning exercise?

Then on Friday evening, I say evening because it was close to 5.30pm two youths set fire to the portaloo on the building site of our new classroom. For one reason or another the toilet went up like a nuclear bomb, the plumes of flames alerted half the neighbourhood. The skaters we normally chastise because they do some much minor damage to our school rang the fire brigade.

The camera footage shows our concerned neighbours coming at pace to attempt to save the exploding toilet from causing more damage.

It is easy to make light of a toilet set on fire but this is a reality check for all of us. We would hate to be in a similar situation to Mangere East and the devastation caused by their recent fire. Thanks so much to the community members who came to our aid and prevented the possibility of more damage.

Thanks to everyone who keeps an eye out and keep up the great work!
