UPDATE ON OUR BUILDING

Dear Parents/Caregivers & Friends of the School
Our Buildings
We have been given a tentative date of the 17th of October for work to commence to
address the weather-tight issues at our school. The Ministry of Education plans to work
through the school in stages and shortly will be moving relocatable classrooms onto the
school field, which will remain here for the duration of the remedial programme. While
the work is being undertaken in each block, classes will move into the relocatable rooms;
once remediation is completed, they will move back into their own room, freeing up the
space for the next class.
This project excludes:
* the Weka block – which has no weather-tight issues
* the Kea block – which is currently under investigation by the Ministry
* the Poutama block – has issues that will be addressed in a second project
As you can see, it was easier to highlight the areas that would not be included in this
extensive programme rather than those rooms that will undergo remedial action.
We will be working very hard to ensure that our students’ education is in no way affected
by the change in venue of their classroom and we applaud the flexibility and hard work of
our staff who have been preparing for this for some time.
We will also be welcoming the Education Review Office team who are visiting us around
the same time as the project is to start.
At least we can say life is never dull at The Gardens School!
