ANDREA HEWES
Administration Assistant
I am originally from Hamilton, moving to South Auckland when I was 10.
My parents bought the Opaheke Supermarket in Papakura (which I loved,
lots of lollies) and I attended Rosehill Intermediate and then Rosehill
College. I am the middle child, having an older sister and a younger
brother.
I was very much into my swimming, joining the Papakura Swimming Club,
and also netball.
After leaving school I spent a year at Manukau Tech completing a oneyear
secretarial course.
I then had a tremendous urge to travel and left with a group of friends
to live in Sydney. I spent two years in Sydney, which was fantastic and
worked on weekends as a surf lifesaver at Coogee Beach! I then decided
I wanted to see a bigger city and my best friend and I went and lived
and worked in London for two years.
Once I got home I still had the urge to travel hence joining Ansett New
Zealand as a flight attendant and then after a couple of years joining
Air New Zealand as an international flight attendant/air hostess.
I then went on to meet my husband Dan and have two boys (that keep
me busy), building a few homes in the area and settling in The Gardens.
I feel very privileged to be able to live here and work at the Gardens
School, and to meet all the lovely children and their families.
