LISA COSFORD
Teacher (part-time)
I am a South Auckland girl, born & raised. I grew up in Manurewa & later in
Papatoetoe. I am the youngest in my family with two older brothers. Yes – I
was the annoying one who would yell “Don’t!” or “Ouch!” before my brothers had
even done anything to me at all!
I attended Papatoetoe North & Central School, Papatoetoe Intermediate & then
Papatoetoe High School. My earlier years were filled with lots of tennis. I was a
part of Auckland coaching squads & seemed to fill the school holidays playing in
tournaments. I later used the knowledge I had gained to teach ‘Pee Wee Tennis’
to littlies.
I then decided to take up an opportunity to train as a Pharmacy Technician
through a small, happy, fun-filled little pharmacy in Otahuhu – looking back, not
sure why I did this. I think maybe it was the added bonus of earning & learning
at the same time. It was a great learning experience.
I then filled in at an early childhood centre & really loved this but later I decided
to do what I had always wanted to do & that was to train as a primary school
teacher & complete my Bachelor of Education. It was one of the best things I
ever did. I did my last practical experience here at The Gardens & from this was
offered a job in 2004. I have been here ever since & teaching is one of my
passions in life.
I married my husband Luke in 2007 & at the end of 2008 we had our beautiful
little girl Summer, with another wee bub due this term (no, Mrs Cosford hasn’t
just had too many pies this year!). Since then I have been lucky enough to work
part-time here at The Gardens whilst still being able to play mum. This year I
have been fortunate enough to be working with the wonderful children in Takahe 2
for the first block each morning but sadly say farewell at the end of the week to
prepare for Baby No. 2.
So now that you know my life story, feel free to come & tell me yours! 
